When it comes to Thanksgiving there’s one thing that can chap my hide. You spend at least two days grocery shopping and hours cooking and cleaning to lay out this gargantuan feast on the table…
And, we’re done eating in about 15 minutes.
I do my best to keep my family seated for a lot longer. Over the years we’ve incorporated a few fun ideas I want to share with you. We’ve got a couple of HUGE American history buffs in our brood so it makes sense to pull in some of that ambiance for good reason. Plus, I want my kids to have the same great memories I have sitting around my Grandma’s table when I was a kid.
For some of us, this might be the one time of the year we’re all together. Make it a special one. I’ve included FREE printables (click below) that will help you with that:
- George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation – Begin a new family tradition and have a family member read this as you gather.
- Table Talk Questions – A prompt of questions to keep the conversation fun.

Heck, I’m printing this out for my 16 year old who just got his first phone…
Yep. He was the last one in his class. My poor daughter (now 14)… she’s languishing, but she’s willing to wait. I probably won’t make her ;).
Merry Christmas, friend.
peace for the journey~elaine
