Thanksgiving is only one week away.
My advice?
Begin making your shopping list today.
Don’t wait until the last minute.
I’ve done that before–LOTS OF TIMES–and it doesn’t work.
When you sit down and figure out all you need to make for the table — STOP.
It’s not that no one cares, because they do, it’s just that we spend way too much time doing. Way too much time stressing and thinking we need to work to make this day perfect.
We really don’t.
Do you want to make this Thanksgiving perfect?
Remember, that you already are.
God loves you whether you make that homemade turkey dressing or purchase a few boxes of Stove Top. He thinks you’re an amazing mom –even if you don’t make your Great Grandma Gertrude’s homemade pumpkin pie. Yep, that’s right. He loves you just as much if you purchase your pumpkin pie at Costco.
Your family really doesn’t care about those things, either.
Think About Your FAVORITE Thanksgivings When You Were Younger
I challenge you to look back at your favorite Thanksgiving gatherings. What made them special?
I’ll wait…
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that what made this holiday special had very little to do with the food. It was the people, right?
The conversations.
The laughter.
The hugs.
So, stop worrying about all you need to be baking and basting and doing–instead, how about you plan to do a lot less and love a lot more?
Remember, love doesn’t care if the turkey is dry. Love just cares that the people we love are there.
Moms, I’m letting you off the hook with a gentle reminder:
It’s not what you set on your Thanksgiving table. It’s who sits around your Thanksgiving table.
It makes all the difference.
