Last week I received the news that my former publishing house is going out of business. Definitely not the news a writer wants to hear. Sadly, it’s becoming a pretty normal thing as technology has opened more avenues for publication.
What does this mean for me? Well, it means I may lose my ability to purchase my book Just Too Busy–Taking Your Family on a Radical Sabbatical. There was much hard work that went into writing these pages. It’s a piece of my heart I enjoy sharing. It’s a ministry tool that encourages women when I speak and share in their company.
The publishing house has yet to contact me. This is not a good thing. And, since I know very little about how to retain my rights, there’s a fear that’s been creeping up in me these past few days.
Still, there’s a flicker of peace inside me. I have hope.
God has worked things out in my life when I thought there was no way things could get better. He LOVES difficult times to show off His power in our lives. While I can get gloomy and sad about the unknown, His light shines brightest in the dark.
I’ll be contacting the publishing house this morning to see what can be done to retrieve my book before it ends up lost in the abyss of red tape. I do believe this group of people who worked so well with me to get these words out will do what is God honoring and help me. Even more, I have hope in my God who has never let me down before and who works all things out for the good–for those who love Him.
Difficulty is the very atmosphere of a miracle–It’s a miracle in it’s first stage. If it is to be a great miracle, the condition is not difficulty but impossibility. Mrs. Charles E. Cowman
