You can learn alot on a country drive. Sometimes all you need is just one person to make all the difference. Angie introduced me to Gloria this morning. A gorgeous grandma and native to these parts, she taught me LOTS on our trip to the Tallahassee airport.
Like the fact that any standing water holds alligators…or how the moss you see hanging from the trees around here have redbugs in them. The moss needs only air to grow and I’d wanted to take some home. Gloria told me I needed to put it in the microwave first.
SERIOUSLY? Yup. She was serious.
Gloria schooled me pretty quickly about the lingo in these parts. I thought I’d share a few.
ENGLISH – Horses FLORIDANIAN – Hayburners
ENGLISH – Armadillo FLORIDANIAN – Possum on the half shell
And so you know exactly where I am staying, the town of “Two-Egg” is close by, not far from “Bump Your Nose Rd.”.
How cute is that?
