With the angelic news of her pregnancy, Mary ran with haste to her cousin, Elizabeth. Can you imagine the moment when both shared their holy news?
Both were going to have a baby. Both were chosen to be a part of the greatest story the world would ever know.
There were many unknowns in regards to Mary’s future; how would Joseph take the news? How would her family be treated by their community? Would they shun her parents? Would they stone her?
Mary did not have everything figured out. She was given a tiny slice of God’s gargantuan plan.
LOTS of unknowns hung loose and unanswered – yet she didn’t fret, she didn’t weep with worry…she sang.
Her heart was full. Her faith beyond compare. Her song a public acknowledgement of the Holy One who handpicked her for His plan.
How About You?
Can you sing through your “unknowns”? Are they financial? Are they relational? Are they so burdensome that the Christmas season is making it even worse?
Have faith sweet friends.
Rejoice in thanksgiving that the Mighty One has done great things for you! Get your eyes off that “unknown” and put them on the ONE who is known – Holy is His name.
He will never be moved – and because He won’t, neither will you.
Mary’s Song
And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”
Luke 1:46-56

Jo, Love the song of Mary and your added insight. What a great story to dig into and try to put yourself there. I can only imagine. One day we will get to meet Mary and Elizabeth and find out.
Love the pic of the kids, so long ago. 🙂
Love you, Holl’s
