Sitting is my kind of fun. Everything I love to do can be done while sitting; eating, reading books to my children, writing, coffee with my husband, laughing with my girlfriends. Sitting is my favorite thing to do.
But, every once in awhile, the Lord asks me to stand. He calls me to do more than sit. He beckons me to get up out of my comfy chair and my even more pleasurable comfort zone. Calling me to far off places, stretching me to break free from the insecurities that bind.
He knows me pretty well. I will walk through every door He opens, march across the desert plains, and cut my way through the thick over grown wilderness places. All for a chance to be nearer to Him.
It is when I am forced to leave the comfortable that I cling the hardest to Him. Clutching His robe, daring anyone to break my hold. The same way my little ones cling to me when they are scared. My response to their fear is to pull them in even closer. God does the very same with us.
Friends, are you sitting in your comfy chair today? He has more for you. What has He been whispering in your ear? He has something for you to do. There are places He beckons you to go. Get up out of your comfy chair and stand!
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20
