Most of you already know that I LOVE Thanksgiving. So, with fall leaves on the ground and pumpkin bread in the oven, I knew it was time for another Kraft project.
This usually means I spend way too much money at Hobby Lobby.
I was inspired by a photo on Pinterest and got started.
Here’s what you need:
- Branches from your backyard.
- Floral foam to place at the bottom of whatever container you use to keep the branches in place.
- Small bag of pine cones or some other covering to hide the floral foam.
- Construction paper.
- A leaf die cut, or if you’re craftier than me you can draw a leaf and use it as your template to cut out more.
- Colored pens.
- Ornament hangers.
Find a favorite glass vase or jar and stick the floral foam on the bottom. Place the branches where they look best inside of the foam. I bought a small package of pine cones to cover the floral foam. Cut out fall leaves from the construction paper and create a hole with the hole punch in each leaf. Put the leaves in a dish beside the tree. Have the pens and ornament hangers there, too. Write what you’re thankful for on a few of the leaves and hang. Your friends and family will see what you’ve done and add their own leaves during your gathering.
After ever Thanksgiving I carefully take off the leaves and place them in a airtight bag for safe keeping. Then, when fall rolls around again, I put my tree back together and hang each leaf the same way I would an ornament on my Christmas tree. Except, these ornaments speak to me in the words of those I love.
It doesn’t get much better than that.
