When you publish a book, be prepared to give radio interviews. My publishing house is much smaller and doesn’t set up interviews like some other pub houses. So, I’ve had to pound the pavement with media kits and free books to local radio/TV stations myself.
This evening our family is taking a field trip to KFBK, an award-winning radio station. Talk show host, Kitty O’Neal, is going to be interviewing yours truly about my new book Just Too Busy, among other things…
Kitty and I have exchanged emails today and I think she may be interested in hearing more about my 911/Dispatch job too.
Most people who are talk show saavy have heard of her. And, if you’re from the Sacramento area you’ve definitely heard of her. She’s been in radio for years, working alongside peers like Tom Sullivan and Rush Limbaugh. Not to mention, she covers the Oscar’s and is drop-dead adorable!

Now, do me a favor, would you? PRAY. I’ve been walking around talking to myself all day, trying to answer pretend questions! I’ve been known to stumble with my words and I definitely DO NOT want to do that, especially with an audience of friends, neighbors, and who-knows-who listening in!

Joanne, you did a great job! You were engaging and enthusiastic. Kitty O’Neal seemed genuinely interested in your book and your life. And she was quite a fan of your wonderful family, too! I’m sure the interviews will get easier now that you aced this one!
